Like minded Triathletes are more than welcome to get in touch & consider joining Tritanium and attend our training sessions and represent Tritanium at upcoming events, eventually we may be registered with the British Triathlon Foundation and we hope to continue developing the club and have branded clothing etc

'MOLTENI BOYS' HAVE MORE FUN

The day started out like any other Tritanium event, it was raining and i was late! but this was helped by the fact that Iain had only just arrived. Although it was no surprise to anyone that i was last to be ready, not helped by the fact that my back wheel had popped out whilst in transit and i thought i'd buckled it and wouldn't be able to ride, (I went a nice shade of green at the thought that i was all dressed up with no where to go) as ever Mark was around to fix the problem and make me feel like an idiot as he fixed it in 5 seconds. Graham and Mark who say i'm enthusiastic, had cycled to the meeting point and were sheltering in a bus stop, as we were to experience later a bus may not have been a bad idea at times and who would have thought that Iain's humerous charactor profiles would once again prove to be true to form, those 2 hours sat quietly typing away while trying not to wake the kids up in Norway proved to be time well spent.

 Well we were off, sadly the rain meant the Molteni matching tops would have to be hidden away like a closely guarded secret until a very brief break in the showers later in the day. I can only speak for myself but i'm sure Iain and Graham would agree that for the mere mortals in the team it was both the most exilerating and enjoyable ride of our lives and the worst ride ever all rolled into one.

TRAINING TIPS

 

Chia Seeds - On the advice of Mark H I was advised to try Chia seeds as I was always tired from early mornings and training. Mark was right it did look like frog spawn and to be honest it tasted as bad. My next attempt I used orange instead of water and it was nice, time will tell if it helps me in my early morning training sessions. Nathan

Can't Swim, Can't Ride, Can't Run follows Andy Holgate's epic journey from being an overweight librarian to an Ironman triathlete. Before he could even begin the rollercoaster ride which amassed more punctures than Andy cares to remember, this would-be Superman had first to buy a second-hand bike and take swimming lessons. Along the way, he ended up in hospital, dealt with family crises, encountered crocodiles and deadly amoebas, and persuaded his friends that doing an Ironman event is what normal people do on their stag weekend. This is the inspirational, amusing and moving story of how one normal bloke learnt how to fall off a bike and not injure himself, to run a marathon despite two dodgy knees, and most importantly how not to drown.
 

About the Author

Andy Holgate is 37 years old and lives in Lancaster. After less than 18 months training, in 2007 he completed his first Ironman distance race, The Big Woody. He walked down the aisle a week later and married Emma, who continues to be an Ironwidow. In 2009 Andy completed his second Ironman in Germany in a time of 12hrs 57m 21s.
